Shell Quilts

I designed this small quilt to teach a class of beginners. All the skills needed to make a quilt were incorporated in this project: how to use templates, hand piecing, hand applique, and hand quilting. Kits were made up for the students using various colourways.

To demonstrate the various techniques, I assembled this quilt during the class. In the background can be glimpsed my English Rose dinner set (by Royal Doulton). It was bought new in 1946 by my MIL and passed on to me 50 years later. A friend's daughter worked the Irish crochet jug cover.
