Grandmothers Fan

This friendship quilt was assembled from blocks made by members of our sewing group, and a friend. We all made blocks for each other; I chose Grandmothers fan in greens and pinks. Two more friendship blocks were made into cushions, as shown.

Another view of the friendship quilt, this time on our front verandah. I quilted around the inside edge of each square; a friend quilted around the fans and used a "rose of Sharon" template to quilt the centre of the plain blocks. A small rose was also quilted next to all but 2 of the fans.

Two of the fan blocks incorporated cream-coloured broderie anglaise fabric instead of the calico used in the other blocks. Quilting on these 2 blocks was done in radiating lines.
