Welcome...

to the mini-exhibit of quilts from "Watercolor Impressions." Each design is accompanied by a brief description. For a more detailed artist's statement, see the photos in the book.

Tribute to January by Patricia Maixner Magaret, 1995, 46 1/2" x 43 1/2". Quilted by Cheryl Greenstreet Swain. Using a palette of black, white, and gray, Patricia has captured a wintry scene. The title comes from Patricia's annual birthday celebration. She shares her birthday with a famous person. They meet at an undisclosed location each year to blow out the candles on their cake! Can you find his square in this quilt? (Hint: this is known as the Elvis quilt. Can you see his head, lying on its side near the lower part of the center of the quilt?)

Cathedral on the Rhine by Eleanor Kiser Cole, 1995, Pullman, Washington, 31 1/2" x 42 1/2". Made to commemorate all of the beautiful cathedrals visited while on a cruise on the Rhine River, this window captures the essence of all the stained glass seen by Eleanor and her husband. Al Cole often helps Eleanor cut the squares and pieces for her quilts.

Daddy Lives in the Mountains by Sara Jane Perino, 1995, Pullman, Washington, 48" x 54". A brilliant moon adds to the mood of a cold, wintry night in the mountains, where Sara Jane's father lives.
