I wanted to gift my oldest sister with something special for her birthday. I purchased your book and decided to challenge the constraints of time and the unfamiliar. I read and reread your book, said a few prayers and began stripping photos from my albums.
Originally I thought a wall-sized quilt would be nice. However, coming from a family of eight, the many Kodak Moments soon turned my project into a twin- sized ‘Family Garden.' Included on the quilt are pictures of our great, great grandparents, and a 1916 picture of our dear little mother's First Communion that none of my siblings have ever seen before. (See detail photo.) These were a beautiful ‘find' for me in doing this project!
As I mentioned earlier, my quilt has generated interest and activity in our small community. I fully expect to see a few inspirations at our county fair next month, and I know a few Christmas presents are in the making.
Thank you for sharing your labors of love. It was quite a learning experience for me and I'm entertaining thoughts of stitching another soon. In a birthday call my sister said that - there were no words to express how she felt when she opened her photo-quilt.' Guess she liked it! You gathered the seeds. I sowed them, and she received the harvest. Thank you, Ami."
