The Carter's 50th Wedding Anniversary

"My quilt features early life pictures of Bob and Jan, their parents and families, dating pictures. Dad's WWII flight crew, his flight wings, 2 telegrams sent to family when his plane was shot down and then was recovered, a patch off his Air Force uniform, wedding pictures, wedding invitation, pictures of them as a couple through the years, 4 children's baby pictures through present spouses and families, foster children, family vacation to Hawaii, family business (bought from grandpa) past and present, 3 family homes we've lived in, pets, family boat and wave runner, Mom at her sewing machine, applique saying "I Love to Sew", invitation to the Golden Anniversary Celebration, a musical "button" that plays "Love Story", names of countries they have visited, spare places to attach the medals we gave them on the day of their anniversary---for living with each other that long!"

"We were advised to make a "map" of the quilt and list those in the pictures. I made a list of names and relationship to Bob and Jan Carter, then a diagram of the quilt with names. We laminated these and tucked them into a matching pocket on the back. When the quilt is passed on through the generations maybe we can avoid the "who is that" and "how did they get into this family" questions."
