Help Make Holidays Happen

for kids of all ages

The holidays are suppose to be a happy time, a time for families to join together and share the joys of the seasons and share in the excitement of watching children open their gifts. But many children, due to illness or abuse, are separated from their families at this time of the year. Many parents who are ill, unemployed, coming off of Welfare, and the working poor cannot afford to buy gifts for their children. While many groups provide toys for younger children, older children and teenagers are often forgotten. Our goal is to help make the holidays happen for children of all ages, especially children ages 10 to 18.

Emergency!!

November 1999

I just spoke with the New Haven Police Dept. about Christmas. They have 2000 kids signed up for their gift giveaway and don't think that they have enough stuff. We've received some nice stuff, but are desperate for sports/state tee shirts, size large for teens.

Can you help?

Please contact Darlene if you can - Thanks so much for you help.

Who are we?

We are a small grassroots organization of caring individuals who served over 200 children in the state of Connecticut for Christmas in 1998. We provided several churches and social service organizations with handsewn polarfleece hats, scarves, mittens, crocheted afghans, and other items to make the holidays happen. For 1999 we hope to be able to provide for many more children and families by getting an early start. Scroll down to see what we are currently up to.

Here's some of the items we collected and/or made for 1998

What can you do?

We ask you to first donate in your local area if possible, we will gladly accept donations to help make the holidays happen. And while most toy drives will not accept handmade items, we gladly accept them.

To help get you started, we have come up with a list of ideas, but this is only a start. Again, while we are focusing on older children, we will accept items for kids of all ages.

What we are currently up to

April 1999 - Toy drive

By having a toy drive in April, we are hoping that people will have more money than they do in December <G>. We have been watching all our local department store, toy store, and discount stores for sales and have already found quite a few items. We'll let you know who we make out.
