Has anyone else noticed the Singer site no longer lists dates of
manufacture.

I had the site listed in 'my favorites' and this a.m. tried to pull it
up and alas.........=20

it's a whole new ball game....... Can someone tell me the name of the
new site?

Thanks, Elizabeth

Subject: reproduction FW?

Hi everyone,

Recently my husband asked, while I was gushing about how wonderful my FW is and
how much I prefer it to any of my modern machines (in addition to my 1934 FW, I
have a '70s Kenmore, an '80s Bernina, and a 2001-ish Singer) why Singer doesn't
go back to producing the FW. I glibly answered that they'd never be able to
match the craftsmanship, and that since the bobbins they're currently selling for
FWs aren't right, what are the chances they'd get the whole wonderfully complex
machine right?

Now, a friend of mine emailed that she saw online a "reproduction featherweight,"
brand-new but looking exactly like the old ones, advertised as being "perfect to
take to quilting classes." She sent a link, but I couldn't get it to load.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm skeptical at best, but I knew this
group would have the answers!

Thanks in advance,
Sarah

Subject: a Singer Question

Hi,
I was wondering if you could do me a favor and help me with your
expertise.
I have been collecting 221 Featherweights for about 5 years and I
recently acquired a machine, Scroll Plate, Serial #AE 216441. What has me baffled,
is the motor.
I have never seen one like this, in my few years of collecting, but I
have seen lots of machines in that time period.
It has a beautiful ALL BAKELITE motor, without the metal band going
around the motor. It has gold writing, though it is worn, it is on the front
motor, with the Singer name & catalogue information. It says Cat #6-8, plus other
info.
I hope you can help me out. I am very curious and would like to know.

Subject: NFW but 301 related
Date: Tue, 20 Jan 2004 09:52:08 -0500

Hi,
I am looking for decals for my 301. This is a machine that was originally
that green/mocha color. Well, the color had faded and looked like camouflage
instead of being uniform. Really ugly!
My SIL, who used to paint cars but now sells car paints, promised me he
would repaint this machine. Well, the closest he came to doing this was to
take it apart and prep it for painting. That was 6 months ago. I got tired
of seeing this machine with all its' parts in a box...so, I painted it
myself. I know, it is not original but this machine looked awful! And I
wanted to give it to my granddaughter who loves pink and really loves
Barbie. So I need decals that say, "Barbie". Would also like to have one
that says, "Brittany". The Barbie decal I want to place on the back where
the singer name was and the Brittany decal I would like to put on the light
cover. (The singer badge and the 301 plates are still intact). Does anyone
know where I can find these decals?
I don't have a photo yet to show but when complete, I'll post one online. I
think it really came out cute even though I did it myself.
Thank you for any help locating these.
Debbie Fowler
