Subject: manual help

I got a singer featherweight for Christmas. It runs wonderful, but I do not
have a manual for it. I have been trying to find information on whether all of
them are considered 221 or if there are different numbers for different
machines. I would appreciate any information you could provide on where to read
about them, or to get the correct manual for my machine.

Thank - you......Liza DeVries

Subject: Complaint Department

 >>I usually lurk and seldom post because it seems no matter what you post
someone is always unhappy about it.<<<

Dear Penny,

I have an old saying, "There are some people who would complain if they we
being hanged with an 18k gold rope."

I have been on this list for a number of years, and I have found that over
all, this list is one of the best. No rampant flaming allowed. My son is on a
couple of lists where flaming is a blood sport. I choose not to be.

There is a core group here, from whom you never hear a complaint, except in
the most polite of terms, and then only once in a rare while. These are the
people I truly appreciate and try to imitate.

Basically, the aim, purpose and goal is to help one another, with
Featherweight problems and acquisition celebrations and other related ways. G-d knows we
try.

One of the advantages of this list is that it is in Digest form. One Email,
and very seldom of a length that has to go as an attachment, and your "in"
mail box is not overloaded. The mention of 50 Emails makes me think that the
person was referring to all their Emails and not FWF. Perhaps, just having a bad
day overall.

You know, we love lurkers just as much as those who contribute regularly,
because we know that every once in a while a lurker comes up with very helpful
information too.

Hi--

I have bought a couple of things on www.rummageads.com which has a for sale list
and a "wish" list for sewing-related items. You might check it out.

Hello Fellow FWFs,
I have been lurking lately, just trying to get through the holidays
successfully, but still devouring everyone's posts. I gave myself a
small thrill by sewing on my Dec. 9th birthday FW on my birthday.
(Thrills are really scarce in this neck of the woods.)
I finished teaching my quilting class at church several weeks ago
with a BIG sigh of relief. I have photos of the class, my sewing
machine collection, and my special Featherweights on a little rinky-dink
website I set up. Here is how you get there:
http://home.comcast.net/~mustbecyn/index.html
Take a moment to see my machines. It's a nice collection and I am
blessed to have it. (I better go give the husband a big kiss for
indulging me in this extremely small house that has no business having
this many machines!)
I ended up giving my daughter my USA made Centennial FW machine
before Christmas. It already needs to go to the OSMG. She's a worse
tinker-er than me, and she already has the tension parts in a little
baggie. I'm so glad she found the FW fever... well, this is starting to
sound like boring chit-chat, so I will sign off.
Take care and God Bless,
Cindy Garcia

Dear Eric:

I am a novelist writing a novel set in a garment factory in the 1920s
and 1930s. I am desperately trying to figure out what kind of sewing
machines they would be using in this tiny little factory. I know that
out there in the ether there exists a website devoted to the singer
industrial sewing machine, circa 1920 or 1930, but I cannot find it.
Can you help me?

A Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year to everyone! I finally took the
time to clean up all of my Posts since November and enjoyed each and every one of
them. Time is a precious thing for sooooooo may of us.

What ever happened to "Live and let Live"? I am a very busy person as others
are and when I start reading a post that I am not truly interested in (very
few), I just skip it. I suppost that I relate this to my everyday life - I
asked one gentleman who came in to my work place how he was and his reply -
"well, I am on the right side of the dirt and that is a good thing"! Live it, love
it and be grateful for what we have. I was told at a very early age that
life is what we make it and I suppose misery loves company.

With that I will wish that everyone read what they like and skip the rest and
please act like adults not children.

Davetta Stocker

I just got a 222K for Christmas. I have the greatest husband who looked
and looked and found one.
It is not sewing quite right any suggestions as to how to adjust it or a
knowledgable repair shop.

Hi All
Richard if your Featherweight is still skipping you can always run through my
FAULT FINDING guide on my site. It usually covers most problems and cures.
Good luck.

Patty, I appreciate the fact that you are busy, but I think what makes this
site so much fun....is the personal infor, e-bay, etc..I think if you will take
the time to read closer, you will find that it is all related, and you will
learn so much about antique machines in the process. I love the machines all
the more!
