Yes, Alex, broadband is getting very popular here, as it is very fast
and requires no "logging on" since it is sort of always on. You just
bring up your browser, or email, directly. It's good to have virus
protection, and even a "firewall" built into your system if you can, to
protect yourself from those genius computer nerds out there who troll
the internet for portals they can infiltrate. Also, I can't swear to it
but I suspect I get more spam than I did before. I use a SBC (Pacbell)
DSL line, and love the speed! Only thing is, you have to live in a
place where the service is provided. Rural areas are sort of out of
luck at present.

Hi, Sharon in Liberty, NY here:

I want to thank everyone for their replies to my question about the case for
my green white FW, which is dark blue top and aqua bottom. Many said this
is the original FW case. The only FW's that I have heard of that have this
case appear to be what Sebro calls the "mystery" FA series. Mine is
FA234840, a later model than many of the Celery. Why would singer use what
many have called the "original case" for a much later celery. Is it
possible, that as singer cut costs, they made a cheepee case for this still
lovely celery? Also, were there tables available for this one? I got a nifty
table for my black 1951 for $25.00 privately. It has cigarette burn and two
pieces of peeling veneer- just like my mother would have done with her darn
ciggies. Love that Graham- sense of humor and smarts!!!

I am an hour drive from Middletown. 2 hours from the Palisades Mall
where friends tell me is an OK guy. 1 1/2 hours from Binghamton, NY .
Any leads on someone I could trust not to butcher my babies?? My
husband cleaned and oiled and lubricated following manuals. He is a
former machinist, so goes slow, makes diagrams so he can put it back ,
etc. What a guy- cooks too! Sharon in Cold Hudson Valley of NY

Yep, that's it...
Texas won its independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto, on
April 21, 1836, with the battlecry of "Remember the Alamo!" on their
lips.
Texas is the only state that was first its own country (republic).
Printed on the San Jacinto Monument:
"Measured by its results, San Jacinto was one of the decisive battles of
the world. The freedom of Texas from Mexico won here led to annexation
and to the Mexican War, resulting in the acquisition by the United
States of the States of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California,
Utah, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Oklahoma. Almost
on-third of the present area of the American nation, nearly a million
square miles of territory, changed sovereignty."

Yee-haw!
Have a good one, y'all!

Hi Dutchrose,
I have a white/celery FW that I bought from Glenn Williams and the case that
came with it is, light blue on the bottom and dark blue on the top and
handle. It has 2 hasps with no locks.
I named that one "Beauty"

Extremely modest electrical requirements aside (the lightest lamp
cord would be fine) it's totally an aesthetic decison. So, go to the
serviceperson's shop and see what kind of wire he or she has
available. If you don't love (not like) the look and feel of the new
wire, move on.

I generally make both wires longer - about an extra foot on the foot
pedal, and 20' to the outlet. Saves toting around an extension cord.

I really love the look and feel of the original rubber-covered wire,
but I haven't done any shopping to find out if it's still available.

Where on earth did this "celery" term come from? There was only one
color and that was "pale turquoise" according to Singer's paint
specification sheets..

Back to the question. Yes, two distinct types of case and each
available in a variety of colors -- combinations of light and darker
greens and blues.

There are three brands of replacement cases. None are built to the
same tolerances as the original. Simply be sure to buy from someone
who has tested the individual; case before shipping it out and who
offers a return if it doesn't function properly
