Subject: Featherweight bobbincase latch

Hi,
Can the bobbin case latch be replaced? If so is this a big deal? And I
am looking for a repair person who could do such work anywhere in the
Anderson Indiana area

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try fabshophop.com...a whole list of online shops...some great,
some not-so (but then it is all in the eye of the beholder, correct?).

I have a Singer machine that I think is a 201. It belonged to my grandmother. What is the best website to do research or should I just call Singer? It has serial number AJ 181345 just in case anyone might recognize the series AJ. I also have a Fashion Mate 245 that she gave me. I think the 245 is mid to late 1960's model?

Thanks for any help that can be given on these two machines.

connectingthreads.com has a nice box of bobbins, containing 1 dozen.
They are great quality. The box is handy in that it is divided in to 4
sections. =20

high snow banks on some of our side roads. Perfect weather to stay home
and sew.

Cindy G wrote that she's looking for fabric that has Featherweights on it or
something like that--any novelty fabric which pertains to antique sewing
machines, the word "Featherweight", or black Singer machines.

I've not seen any fabric with featherweights but there is some sewing
machine theme fabric by Marcus Brothers; the collection is called "A Stitch
in Time" fabric collection by Revelations." There are a dozen different
designs in this group. A short link:
http://www.marcusbrothers.com/fabricgallery/index.shtml

Note that the legend QSO ~ "Quilt Shop Only (QSO) - These collections are
sold only through independent quilt shops."

I've seen another but the information alludes me at the moment.

Hope this helps.

nice FW pattern! I wasn't aware of the size when I ordered it (finished

Kathy;
You can easily adjust a paper pattern by taking it to your local copy house
and enlarging or reducing the pattern. Just make sure that what ever size you
make the pattern to make all the pieces the same %age.

Hi everyone,

There have been several people talking about FW quilt patterns. I
thought you might like to see mine. Go to this website:
http://community.webshots.com/user/shellyburge and click on the picture of the FW quilt to see
all three of my sewing machine quilts.

Two are FW (one is pieced and one is blackwork embrodiery) and the other
has six toy sewing machine designs embrodiered on the quilt.

If you would like information on how to order my patterns please e-mail
me at burgequilt@msn.com.

I also wanted to comment on the antique travel irons. I was at a quilt
retreat last month were my friend had a little GE iron she had bought
through ebay. Shortly after she plugged it in we started smelling
something burning. Suddenly she realized it was her ironing pad. The
bottom of the iron had nearly burned all the way through to the table.
This was the first time she had used it and it was a scary experience.

Regards, Shelly in Nebraska (with 20 inches of snow on the ground)

Yes, I noticed the same thing - they get really HOT! In fact, mine gets too
hot to use safely, and as I recall it doesn't have a dial to adjust the heat:
you either get heat, or you don't.

And btw, I think mine is called a Stewardness; you know, trim, light, and
efficient? >>;->

Hi Kathy -
A friend was going to make that for me a while back as a b'day present, and
she's a pro at PP. But she took one look at it - there are ZILLIONS of pieces -
and made me something else. :-/

Let us know what you think, when you receive it... She said "I love you a
lot, but I don't love ANYBODY enough to make them this thing!"

Everyone was so helpful to Judith with 'where to shop' as her local
store closed.

Well I was hoping all of you could tell me a good source for poly/cotton
knit for T-shirts .... On occasion I can find knit at Wal-Mart ... but
not often....

Thanks so much.... Elizabeth (that bobbin finger that goes between the
screws of the pressure plate...why does mine keep coming out when I sew
and stop and sew and stop ?)

I just wanted to again thank Glenn Williams for fixing my motor (it runs
like new!), and finding a feed cover plate for my buttonholer. Glenn,
you were always prompt and a gem to deal with!
