Subject: 360 Degree Bobbin/Singer Monogrammer/Fla. Gathering

> >My father remembers the salesman making a comment about the "360 degree
> >bobbin." Would anyone know what this could be referring to?
MJ, I took this to mean a full rotary bobbin system, where the
the hook travels in a full circle, like the Featherweight, instead
of an oscillating bobbin system, where the hook goes back and
forth in a 180 degree arc, like in a Singer model 15. The
first full rotary Singer was the 9W, based on the Wheeler
and Wilson 9 design. Maybe some of the mechanics will
comment on why full rotary is a good thing and correct any
mistakes I made in explaining.
Mom Solo, I think you first need to lower the feeddogs
or use a cover plate to use the monogrammer. If you
have not done that, might cause the noise and lack of
movement. Also, can't tell what machine you have since
picture attachments don't come through, and you don't
say which model at Edmonton is like yours.
As promised, here's the updated info on the north

Hi,
I have a Featherweight that I use regularly. My husband and I went over
all of the accessories and have found that I do not have the following:
#120319 Quilting Guide
#45826 Spring for Spool
#8879 Felt circles for spool pin (red or black)
Don't have instructions on the quilting guide either. Any help would be
greatly appreciated to locate these parts.

Subject: online sewing supplies
Greetings from very white and snowy North Iowa. Possibly this plea
will show up an one or more other newsletters to which some of you
subscribe. I am sorry if this is poor ettiquette. I am doing it out of
ignorance and desperation.
Our local variety store has closed its doors, and we are now without a
place to purchase the simplest necessities of sewing. What are your
favorite online supply places for notions, thread, cutter blades, etc?
Thank you so much.

Hello,
I got a kick out of Pat B. talking about how she and Graham mused about
pseudo-Featherweight products one could hawk on ebay. I decided long
ago, when visiting someone's miniature sewing machine webpage, that
Graham must indeed be an interesting, comical fellow. One of their
photos on the webpage, was of Graham walking next to another gentleman,
but Graham was about 15 inches off the ground, clicking his heels and
grinning. I wish I could remember whose page it was. I did get quite a
laugh out of it!
Laughter is the best medicine!
Take care,

Subject: Stitch Problems

Happy Valentine's Day!
My first FW arrived yesterday that I thought I had carefully chosen from
those offered on EBAY. I also ordered my maintenance kit from on of the
links and rec'd it prior to getting my machine so I was all ready.
My machine is a 1936 per Singer. One owner and it lived it's entire
life in the same home. I obtained some family history to go along with
this machine so that when my Great Grandchildren are going through my
things, they will know all about it. Glad to read this AM about the
clip for the oil can - I was wondering about that too and had not had an
opportunity to research.
Getting back on track, I cleaned and oiled and lubed per the manual. It
was not that dirty but very dry. It ran sluggish at first but is
humming along nicely now. But, after threading, it is not making a nice
stitch. I feel confident per all the info out there that I have the
machine threaded correctly , singer needle inserted correctly and the
bobbin threaded correctly. The hand tension tests seem good for the
needle and the bobbin, but sewing, the stitch is forming on top but has
a huge wad of thread looping around on the bottom side. I believe I
have made all the adjustments I can make and must find a repair man.
I've sewn all my life and have dealt with many machines!
I also find that the replacement bobbins that came with my maintenance
kit I ordered are ever so slightly larger than the original that came
with the machine and will not pop in w/o forcing. I am using the one
bobbin that came with the machine. Anyone else have this problem?
Suggestions? Or just find a Singer repair? Thank you so much! I am so
looking forward to sewing on this sweet little machine (I'm a quilter).

This is good to know. I have two GE travel irons, both in original boxes,
water bottle, and original instructions. One is Cat. No. F47, the other is
Cat. No. F49. The F47 even has a little canvas travel bag with it and the
original little GE tag with string. The F49 has a little red button to change it to
220V. I haven't actually used them yet, but they are cute little irons.
I also have a "Franzus" in a small plaid travel bag. Anyone heard of these?

Subject: More on GE irons I have
Just checked one of the boxes - there is an original receipt - Mrs. William
Moran bought this iron on 10-18-1972 with Blue Chip Stamps! It was sent to her
from San Carlos, CA to Baltimore, MD. So neat to have this bit of history
with it. Even includes her own handwriting.
The other travel iron, as I mentioned, has a red adjustment button to change
it for overseas use. However, the little adaptors (there were supposed to be
two - a "British" plug for British Isles and most of the British Commonwealth
countries; and a "Continental" plug for continental Europe and other part of
the world where 220 or 230v is the poer source) are missing. Does anyone have
these, or is there a modern equivalent?
Thanks,

"Anyone wanna buy a Featherweight Bridge?"
The website for the FW block is winnowing.com. I went there to make sure I
had it right and ended up writing a long letter to Christine Thresh. She is a
terrific lady whom I've been writing to off and on for years. She is also the
creator of the "Library Block".
