Subject: Finger/needle guard for a FW?
From: "Jonna Osborne"

Is there available a finger/needle guard that can be used for a FW? For
beginning or student sewers?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Subject: tray question
Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2004 10:16:01 -0500
Hi - I'm new to your list. I've just bought my first FW after a long
time love affair. I learned to sew on my Great-grandma's treadle, and
of course my FW reminds me of that experience - let's just say it was a
LONG time ago. The case that came with the machine was in terrible
condition, but the tray inside is OK. I was wondering what was suppose
to go in it and where. I figured out the bobbin holders, but there are
two little medal "clips" on the left side and a raised medal shelf on
the right. Can anybody tell me what this set up was originally for.
Thanks Roberta .

Before you buy one of these things, take a good look at how far into the
middle of the table the machine sits. I think if I would sew with my
machine that far from me for long, I would have a good back ache. Have
a good look before buying.

Hi Fellow Fluffies
Royce asked about the Singer 185K!
It was a great machine based on the old Singer model 99 that was one of the
mainstay Singer machines for decades. Very basic straight stitch from the
kilbowie factory on the banks of the Clyde, a British classic 50's machine. When
set right no machine stitches better.
I have almost finished a great story about a customer I met just before
Christmas I shall let you all know when it is done.
Bye for now.

Subject: FW walking foot
Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2004 23:00:12 -0500
Hello,
Could someone please tell me what kind of "walking foot" I should buy for my
221? Also where they are available.
I keep having the threads jam when I remove the material after sewing, even
though the seams themselves, look fine. It seems to me that, the bobbin case
(that I received with my machine) may not be the right one for a FW. The bobbin
seems to sit too loosely in the case. (or did they give me the wrong bobbins?!)
It falls out when I tip the case sideways. I seem to remember that bobbins are
supposed to fit tightly in there until one pulled on that little lever.
What steps would you suggest that I take to see what my bobbin problem is?
TIA,

Subject: Caution about original White Featherweight case.

I might add that even though this is the original case for the white
Featherweight, it is not the same quality as the case made for the black
featherweight, and the reason that you have not seem many of them around is that they don't
hold up as well.
I have a luggage strap around mine, and no way would I pick it up by the
original handle unassisted or by one hand only.

Several years ago there was a thread going about this poor quality case.
