Hi, I have an old Singer machine, model 337 and do not have a manual
for it. I'm in the middle of sewing a carry back for a handicap person
and have become quite frustrated because my stitches are puckering on
the back side (bobbin side). Can't seem to find the right combination
to adjust to correct. Got any ideas? Thanks.

To Jacque in Bloody freezing Delaware!
I once made drawstring purse bags out of Nauga type upholstery that looked
like black patent leather. The presser foot would not slide to carry the
material through for stitching.
I put a thin line of sewing machine oil just in front of the presser foot
and it carried right through! I reasoned that the oil is good for the
machine and I could always wipe it off. I tried a little talcum powder, but
it was not as good as the oil and likely wouldn't be good for the machine
(though it might smell good).

Any tips on sewing Naugahyde with my 201 would be greatly appreciated. I am
making air-conditioner covers that Velcro in place for the outside and inside
of my house in white Naugahyde. We don't get many Naugas around here. Lots of
deer but few Nauga's.

Need a little advise / help. I have a friend that needs to speed up a 201.
His wife used to work in a garment factory and is used to sewing very fast.
She likes her 201, but it just doesn't sew fast enough for her. So is there
any way to speed it up?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nicki Bie,
Great find! I have an Atlas machine myself and just love it. It came in
near vintage condition with all attachments and a fine manual. I don't know
anything about the company, but have assumed it to be a Japanese machine due
to different discussions on the list. The time period is right, styled
after a Singer 15 machine. I've heard others sing its praises as well.
Have you sewn with it yet? I get a wonderful stitch even without the
tension hook or last thread guide! Happy stitching from
Holly in Northern NY where we are having a heatwave today at 25 degrees!

Agreed, one of a batch of 10,000 started on that date.

I turned the guy in this time and ebay kicked him off.....The only problem
is he will be back at it again next week with a new ID and the same scam. It
really is a shame thinking of all the good people that have been taken in by
this person.

I saw a little machine in an antique store - a Sew Mor Featherweight -
actually had this on the upper arm of the machine. Very lightweight - made in
Japan. Anyone know anything about this "FW"?

Greetings from Frozen Michigan!

We've had 40 some inches of snow in Jan & temps last week were often
below 15! Now you know why we're leaving for a week!!!

We're going to Las Vegas for the first time in Feb. I remember chatter
about quilt shops there, but of course did not save them cause "we
weren't ever going". Now I'm interested!!!

Would you knowledgeable feathers send me a few suggestions, please,
especially any that specialize in flannels or Civil War era repros. The
closer to The Strip the better as we'll be traveling in someone else's car.

TIA from Mary Jo, Grand Rapds, MI

Correct, never any red machines but I'm not sure that this particular
lash up used a hacksaw. Looks like a custom plate has been used for
the mounting and the sprung jockey pulley that's been added means
the top belt shield didn't have to be cut away like this one

Sorry, even the 1953-59 is guess work. Singer simply doesn't have any
records for the SC-built machine.

REWIRE at once and also check the internal wiring to the lamp and switch.
