I have been lurking and enjoying all the information. Now, I have a question. I have a FW 221- (circa 1955) and wondered if I can use the regular Singer needles in it. It sews great but I think the needle is dull. Also, the attachments that came with it or in a black metal box that wasn't, I think, original equipment. It is about 3 x 6 1/2 inches. Says Greist attachments inside and has a bunch of different attachments, all a little rusty. Can they be cleaned with WD40? Any information would be appreciated.

Subject: Help! I have some questions...

Hello Feathers...
I haven't posted in a bit but do enjoy reading everyone's posts. I
have a strange looking foot in a box of Singer accessories I can't tell
what it is...Number is Simanco 121441 it is solid with just a small hole
in the center. I also have a question re: machine quilting on a 301,
what type of foot would I look for to be able to do this?
Thanks for all the help, love this group

Hi Everybody, I said I'd post back when I got more news on the treadle that was lost in an auction house. Well my husband called me this morning and said Tom had finally brought the treadle to work. I looked up the serial # its G842677 which puts it in the later part of 1909 its a drawing room style (by the way he described it) he said the Head is in excellent condition, I am just dying to see it!!!!! My DH has college tonight so I even have to wait LONGER for him to get home with it like 9:30 , he said it also came with an old sewing table, not sure what that means I'll have to wait and find out tonight, I will post back right after I finally get to see this treadle!!! As many of you know I've been
waiting for this since August and tonight I finally get to see it. I'm very thankful for this list because you guys all know the feeling.......everyone else just thinks I'm nuts this makes 8 treadles. Thankfully I have a big old house!!!! frish in south jersey home of the dairy cow....MOO

Subject: Hamilton?

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about the Hamilton?
We went to a garage sale last week advertising a sewing machine. There was
none in sight, but they hadn't gotten it out of the basement. The woman took
us down to look at it, but we passed _trying_ to be selective.
Anyway, I keep thinking about that machine. I'll bet it's still in her
basement. It was in a desk type cabinet. It was PINK & had lots of chrome
in the levers, etc. It reminded me of a 50's diner or a pink cadilac! Cool!
Maybe our next phase should be pastel machines; we have the mint green 185 J
and the pastel yellow Pricilla...what else?

Oh, yes! I had that "tingle" to stop by the local thrift store this
morning. I walked back to the sewing machines and saw a recent addition.
It was in a really beat up case but I recognized the Singer suitcase style.
In desperate need of coffee I took a quick glance inside and saw a mocha
colored machine, attachments, foot pedal, both a zig-zag and button hole
attachments, and I thought it was a 328 or 329. It was marked $1 but that
was from a yard sale. I took it up front and while the cashier was gone
asking about the price, I looked again and that's when I saw it...the fold
up extension bed. A short bed, but it was a 301! I felt like the words
"I'll pay anything" were flashing on my forehead! I got it for $10 and am
doing the Happy Dance! The case is demolished, but the machine looks hardly
used. I already have it apart on my bench with many pieces soaking in WD40
to remove almost 50 years of grime.

Now I'm not superstitious but I always clean up a machine before I plug it
in and test it. Well...they all have worked so far and I'm not about to
change my routine now!

Subject: 401

Hi to all, I was hoping someone out there is parting out a 401A or the
like. I need a singer foot controler for my machine. It came with a
generic pedal which works but doesn't fit into the knee controller very
well and besides that it is ugly! This is such a nice machine and
cabinet that I would really like to "treat" it with a new foot. Please
e-mail me if you can help.
I spent the weekend in North Carolina -- stopped everywhere looking for
machines and was shocked at the prices. Never saw a featherweight but
Spartan for $175. and a couple of 66's for well over $200. I must have
been in the high rent district. I was dissapointed because I was SURE
my cheap, beautiful, complete 301 was going to be there. Hey what's
wrong with my visiualization powers?????

Subject: Paint flecks

Hi All,
Well I found a featherweight, it needs some tender loving care. The little
dear has white paint flecks on it. Is there a safe way to remove the paint
flecks without damaging the black surface? Any information is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I am interested in locating the serial number on the Featherweight folding table that I have. Can you tell me where it is or what kind of number it should be? Thanks, Jennifer
