Pat Bergman:

The woman who doesn't seem to want to sell the machine is like so many
people who are "not on purpose" about what they are doing. That is where a
good salesperson comes in. You must pursue her, if you want the machine.
Someone will eventuallly come along and help her make up her mind. She may
just unload it for a few bucks, so that she won't have to worry about it
anymore. Go see it, and talk to her about it. If you want it work her into
selling it/giving it to you, you have to be there face to face with her.
Reminds me of the Antique Store woman who wouldn't make up her mind to sell
me the W&G a few months ago.

The latest on the woman who held the Wilcox and Gibbs hostage until our FWF
team took over, closed down her shop and moved all the inventory to a
warehouse in Arizona from La Jolla (San Diego). She seems to have "flown the
coop" with a bunch of consignor's goods that is estimated to be in the
hundres of thousands of dollars worth. It was by sheer luck that I got my
consignments out of there the day before she closed the doors. My friend
Karen, at Antique Traditions, heard the rumor that the place with the W&G
was going to close up in one day. I telephoned them and challenged them on
this rumor. It was true, so I ran down there and moved my antiques out of
there fast. I feel sorry for the others who did not hear the rumor and were
bilked out of their valueables. We have to be very careful with whom we deal
when it comes to consignments. Check out how long they have been there and
what their reputation is before you leave your sewing machines there or any
other antique. In my case, she had been there for a number of years.
I should have checked the reputation, too. I mean anyone who would treat a
Wilcox & Gibbs badly, the way she did, should not be trusted. Left with no
food nor WD40 for so long and kept in a dark, dingy place and would not let
decent sewing machine people rescue her, for a price, ought to be suspect.

I cannot see anything on this machine that looks different from a black 221K
or a plain 221-x. It does not have the different bobbin winder
configuration of a tan 221J. Can someone enlighten me?

Hi, I bought a great 1/4 in. foot for my new featherweight from Delores
Pickens . You can call her at 580-765-6125. She sells featherweights and
related items. I got her number on the web, but can't remember where. She was
very nice. Good Luck Mary Anne

Subject: Foot

Hi Marsha. My DW uses an all purpose zigzag foot that she gets at the
local SM shop. These are clip on feet and the shanks they clip on are
both long and short, Straight or slant. This way she can use the feet
on her FWs,301, or 500. She says to have the edge of the foot exactly
on the edge of the material with no material showing. These feet
measure exactly 1/4" from th center to the edge.
