My son recently started school and is having some difficulty. They think it might be A.D.H.D. I am new to the board but have been touched by the warmth given and the needs expressed. It is a difficult to watch your child suffer yet I am praying that he will learn to control himself and the right type of intervention will come. Thank you.

I posted several days ago about Brady - a 12 year old with bone cancer. His doctors have told the family that he only has a day or two to live. Please pray for comfort for the family during this hard time. Brady is on morphine and not conscience at this time. Since he is so young, there are lots of children experiencing their first encounter with death through Brady. Please pray for all who are touched by the impending loss of this young child. Just a quick update !!

DH went back to doctor yesterday, Tuesday, no changes, everything is same, but hopefully we will see something in the next three weeks when he is due back for follow up ! The doctor did give him premission to try a few alternative medicines, who knows what may happen, at least it gives DH hope of some improvements dealing with the cancer !!

Thanks to all of you for your continued prayers and concerns !

I spent yesterday at the hospital with my mother and sister. My father is doing wonderfully....24 hours after his by-pass surgery he was sitting up in a chair beside his bed and eating a real dinner. He was joking around and in wonderful spirits and is being moved to the Progressive Care unit today.
My sister had to return to NC last night to get back to work, and I'll be working today too, but my brother arrived from Ohio last night and will be staying with my mother for a few days. I'll head back to the hospital this evening to see Dad and make sure my mother eats dinner, and my sister is trying to fly back for the weekend.
This whole episode has my parents thinking more seriously about giving up their two story house and considering an apartment/independent/assisted living facility...anyone know of good places in the Pittsburgh area, please let me know!
We're all holding up well (my dad probably the best of all of us!) Thanks so much for all your prayers. Chris in PA

My dad came through the surgery with flying colors--even went back to work today. The last thing he said to his doctor before the surgery was that he had to walk his daughter (my baby sister) down the aisle in a couple of weeks, so he had to be fine by then. The doctor just laughed asn said there would be no problem. Thanks for all of our prayers!

My dad had emergency quintuple by-pass surgery yesterday...it all came up rather quickly, within minutes of his heart catheterization, so none of us really had a chance to realize the seriousness of it all. (It didn't hit me until about 4 a.m.!) The operation went well and he was stable last night, but they didn't wake him from the anesthesia, since it was already fairly late, so we don't know yet if there is any stroke damage from the operation. I'm trusting to God that there isn't. He's been faithful throughout. Thanks for all the prayers. I worry now a bit about my mother being at home alone while my dad is in the hospital...my older sister has to return to NC tonight or tomorrow and I need to get back to work then as well. My brother can't come in until the weekend....But then, if I'm trusting my father to God, I guess I must apply that same trust to my mother!
I am getting some hand-piecing done on my lillenium sampler quilt during our waiting room time...finally getting around to stitching the blocks I cut out to do on vacation! Chris

THANK YOU ALL! I know it's all your doing! Awhile ago I asked for prayers for my Uncle Harvey (Rund), he has a form of Luekemia and was really in bad shape. We were only praying for a gentle passing, he was in so much pain, bones breaking when he rolled over, etc. After I asked for prayers he was able to go to his daughters college graduation, this was a miracle in our minds. This weekend I was informed he's in a kind of remission!!! Talk about miracles!! He could actually drive!! We can't believe it but then of course we can, you guys were there for us. My Aunt is so happy that he is doing so well for now. Just wanted you all to know and remember...prayer does work!

E-mail Address: adrihard@sound.net

Good day All!
I work in a Wal-Mart here in KC and one of my customers today was buying polar fleece for her newborn son to sleep on in the hospital. While talking with her I found out the baby was born at 26 weeks but was the size of a 22 week old baby! Her placenta had quite working and they had to take the baby to save its life.

The baby, a boy named Graham, weighed 13 oz and was 10 inches long. She told me he has a 50/50chance of survival.

I believe this baby needs our prayers very badly at this point. The only problem I have is that I will never know if he survives or not. Please keep him in your prayers.

Thanks, Adria

I visited Marilyn at the hospital after church today. She looks and feels much better, but will be in the hospital until at least Wednesday. They have placed her back onto medication that she had before "Boston" but must be monitored while on it. The same one she had to wear hooked up to her with battery operated pump, which she DOES NOT want to take home with her this time. It seems that Boston and her Dr. here are not in agreement on what is the best for her, but the Dr. here seems to working best for her. How can specialists have such different ways to treat a patient??? She admits she was very depressed Friday before going into the hospital, but is better now. Says she is determined to live longer than DAD as she knows how worried he is that one of his children (she) might die before him and she doesn't want to put that stress on him. I told her she is going to be here for a LONG TIME yet, so please don't talk about it that way.

Thank you for your prayers.

Dear BB Friends: Please join with me again this weekend with your prayers. Marilyn (my sweet sister) was taken back to hospital yesterday afternoon. Her DH was here early this morning (on his way back to hosp) to tell me and he broke down in tears. He says she is really bad this time and he is so afraid for her. He said she broke down in tears yesterday and said she was ready to let GOD take her, she just doesn't want to live this way any more. He says they put 3 IV's in her last night, but he doesn't understand what they are doing for her, so I have no other information about her yet. Her family will be there with her this weekend so I will visit her on Monday myself.

Hi, friends! I want to ask you all to pray for a friend of mine. His name is Brady, 13 years old. Three years ago he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He had a leg amputated two years ago and this past spring he was told that the cancer has spread to his pelvis bones. He has fought it all along but the treatments have now been discontinued because there was no progress being made. His father is self employed and there are two younger siblings in the family. As you can imagine, they are all physically, emotionally and financially worn out. Thankfully, they have a very strong faith and their church and community has been very supportive. Please pray for comfort and the presence of the Lord during this difficult time. Thanks, Susan in Texas

When called upon to talk at a "Christians in Commerce" luncheon recently, I wondered where I would start. Then I remembered something that had been sent to me when I was recuperating from BC surgery. It is by James Dillet Freeman, and a copy of "I Am There" is now on the moon...carried there on Apollo XV voyage by Astronaut James B.Irwin and left for future explorations.

Quote:

"Do you need Me? I am there. You cannot see Me, yet I am the light you see by. You cannot hear Me, yet I speak through your voice. You cannot feel Me, yet I am the power at work in you hands. I am at work, though you do not understand My ways.
I am at work, though you do not recognize My works.
I am not strange visions, I am not mysteries. Only in absolute stillness, beyond self, can you know Me as I am, and then but as a feeling and a faith.
Yet I am there. Yet I hear. Yet I answer.
When you need Me, I am there. Even if you deny Me, I am there. Even when you feel most alone, I am there. Even in your fears, I am there, Even in your pain, I am there. I am there when you pray and when you do not pray. I am in you, and you are in Me. I am the law on which the movement of the stars and the growth of living cells are founded. I am the love that is the law's fulfilling, I am assurance, I am peace.
I am openness. I am the law that you can live by. I am the love that you can cling to. I am your assurance. I am your peace, I am one with you. Beloved, I am there."

May you find blessings through these words. Grace and Peace - June

are money hungry and not very concerned
about the child but how long the case
can be postponed and billing hours, and I have lost all faith in
the legal system to protect the child. I am
going crazy with worry and I think I will have
comfort knowing that someone is praying with
me for this child. Please pray for her safety
and well being. I do not even know
where she is at this time because her
father has her in hiding. He is very
unstable and has been convicted of assalt
and battery many times. Her name is Robyn and
she is 5 years old. I would die for this child
and I feel like I am dying a little everyday.

A few weeks ago I asked for prayer for my DH. He has been out of work for 5 months. He had 4 really good job interviews since then. However, yesterday he got 3 rejections in a row. It seems companies don't want to hire mid-level managers, especially if they are over 50. He is getting so depressed. Please continue to hold us up in prayer. I know the Lord has a plan for us.

Thanks,

Hi everyone! I hope this posting finds you all feeling a little bit better, and still trusting in God's wonderful grace. I went back to the doctor for thyroid results...still low, so now we add that medicine to my wide array. But, at least it's there to help! I want to thank everyone of you that have kept us in your prayers, because , to a degree, a few have been taken care of! There have been some "angels" working around us, that have provided some financial help, grocery help...Thank You Lord for hearing and responding! I read the post from sewnsew39, She is quite a lady. I have a new friend too, from this board. Sherry and I really needed each other right now, and God just worked His miracles and there we were! Peace and love to all of you!

First Off, I want to thank all of you for your prayers and emails,I will email you as I can, very hard right now to sit and think !!!! DH and I went to Asheville this morning to decide with doctor about treatments !! My DH ask doctor to be very out front with him on the cancer, so doctor was !!! Seems the cancer is too far gone for kemo or radiation, so only thing they want to do now is to slow down the cancer spreading at a slower rate, if possible !! They will give DH shots, one every four months to stop the male testosterone, if possible, hopefully, this will give him more time !!! So please keep in in your on going prayers and pray to give me the strength needed !!

Thank you all, Elaine, NC Mountains

Just a update on DH !! I ask you to put my DH in your prayers, he has been having severe back and leg pain, they talked of surgery !! Friday a cat scan was done to predict what type of surgery was necessary, well, the scan showed up cancer, prostate type, has spread thru out the body, fast moving, now into the pelvic and spine too !! We went back to the doctor today to decide on back surgery, but this has been put off for treatments to start tomorrow morning, they can't wait on the treatments, feel this is more important than back surgery !!! So please keep him in your prayers !

I hadn't read this board for some time. As I read it today, please, everyone, be assured that I said The Lord's Prayer for everyone who requested prayers.

May I please request the same? I read somewhere, sometime, that collective prayer is very powerful--would everyone who is so inclined, please join me in a prayer request at 4:00 p.m. (est), 2p.m. mountain time, 3p.m. central time, and 1p.m. pacific time? I've appied for a position that I would love to have, and hopefully see me through retirement.

I've had one interview, and was called yesterday for a second on the 8th of this month.

The Lord's will be done, thank you. L.S.

I would like to ask for prayers for my son. He has had 3 back surgeries, the last one a year ago which was a major fusion with metal instrumentation as well as bone graft. He lost his job and has no insurance and is totally dependent on us. He lives alone, and is having a very hard time coping with all of this. We spent one day this week at the ER as he was in so much pain. Took several IV injections of morphine to get him out of pain. Dr. thinks there might be more disc damage above or below the fusion. Please pray for him for relief from the pain as well as not having to have a 4th surgery. He will have to have another Myleogram as he can't have an MRI due to the metal in his back. This will determine the need for further surgery.

Thanks, Raeann in MO

wow, there are so many nice people on the bulletin board who have contacted me since i wrote about my lyme disease plight. i wish i could write everyone one of the personally today to express my needs for prayer today, but one mesage is all i am up to today.

yesterday, my doc called out of the blue and said he was reviewing my case with another doc and they are very concerned. he couldn't come right out and say why, but i sensed grave concern in his voice. my husband took me to the doc after work to get my routine injections and my blood pressure was 200/160 so naturally i went to the ER.

they ran every test in the book on me and say the most likely explaination was that the hpb was caused by my uncontrolled pain. finalllyl someone recognized what i've been saying.

well, i am shakey and not makeing much sence and not spellingl any more either, but i want to tell my friends here who are already praying thank you and i'm sorry if i don't correspond for a few days. i am posting so they will know i did not throw myself off a ledge (shepish grin)

thank you to all who have snet me squishies that i haven't written yet, and appologies to any i amy have missed sending mty address to.. i am just so out of it. i guess you can tell.

wish i could write more concisely. i love reading the e-mails people have sent encouraging me and we can print them off for me to reda in bed, so plese keep wirting me even if i don't write back. i'll write back someday soon]

and please pray extra hard for whatever is worring my doc and for my health. the uncontrolled pain forces thenm to stop my treatment for lyme and n ow the lyme is getting out of control. thank you again for your prayers and love. keep on loving!!!!!

Dear friends, THANK YOU to everyone that has sent e-mail messages, or offered prayers for myself and my family. What a blessing you all have been! I went to the doctor today and he gave me a handicapped sticker application. That should help me with having to walk so far when I am able to get out to shop for groceries. My insurance and SS applications still are pending, and I appreciate your continued prayers in this area. My DH and I are preparing our home for sale. Pray that God has the persons ready for it when we get it on the market. We cannot afford to stay here any longer, plus I cannot physically care for such a large home.

I feel I must share something with you that distresses me. I know I am new to the BB, and I don't want to cause any strife, but I was very upset to read the recent posts about Carol Johnson. I have been corresponding with her via e-mail for the last two weeks and today I was able to call her. I found out that we worked in the same hospital for years and never met until now. I had not seen the posts regarding her due to in-laws visiting, etc., and she DID NOT MENTION it at all. Only someone with great love and forgiveness in their heart could go without mentioning something so hurtful. She is a very gracious, loving lady. Being an RN (and Lupus, & Fibromyagia patient) myself, I know the symptoms, the pain, & the stress these illnesses cause. She has been through more than anyone should endure in one lifetime. Not only is she ill, but she was the only provider in her home due to her husband's illness. I know how devastating this has been for her. She has lost her income, and now is in danger of losing her dignity due to a misunderstanding. Like I said, I have not spoken to her about this. I truly wanted to post this just to ask you all for love and prayers for Carol and her family. But for the grace of God, it could be any one of you in the same situation. Until one has experienced devastation like she and I have, it is almost impossible for one to understand it.

Let me say again how much I truly appreciate your thoughts, prayers and messages. My days are brighter when I receive kind messages from you! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
With Love and Prayers for you all,
Sherry

I'm only eight weeks along, and they took an internal sonogram, but they couldn't find my baby's heartbeat. It could be too early to tell, or maybe the tech just couldn't get it, or maybe a hundred other excuses I could use to not think of the worst. We have to go back next Wednesday for another sonogram. This is a request for a card or squishy shower for a good friend of mine in Florida, as well as your prayers for her. Nina is going through a particularly difficult time right now, with domestic problems and upcoming surgery. She is also feeling very alone in the world. She recently wrote that she would like to start quilting because she needs a relaxing hobby, and I sent some advice and am putting together some other starter kit type things to send to her, but In know she really doesn't have the extra money for fabric right now. I know it would also mean the world to her to know she is in your prayers...women at our church here in PA have been praying for her and she's been quite moved and encouraged by it. (She's a homeschooler and the possibility of separating from her husband and trying to continue homeschooling or not being able to continue it is terrifying to her.)
Anyone interested, please e-mail me for her address....Any Gainesville quilters interested in a more personal approach, let me know....Chris in PA

Subject: 5 Small Children Need their Daddy
E-mail Address: sondra@cs.stanford.edu

Hello everyone. I come to you with a special prayer request for 5 small children who need their Daddy terribly. My DH's brother and wife are going through a divorce. They have 5 children, the oldest will be 10 in Nov., and there is a set of twins. The youngest is 3. At any rate, this is the case of a truly unfit mother. I still don't know why she had children, but she did and they are very precious. My BIL is a police officer in Arkansas and is trying to see sole custody of the kids. When it came time for court, her attorney found out who he had to testify for him, and is now trying to stall. BIL thinks it's because her attorney is requesting his charges be paid if she wins and he's afraid she won't win. Meanwhile, these 5 children are left alone while the mother runs off to work. BIL has been called by creditors to pay them and does it to protect his credit. She has been evicted a couple of times for not telling the truth about having 5 children. It is pathetic. How a judge could turn 5 little souls over to a woman incapable of caring, is beyond me. The father wants the kids, and will do anything honest and decent to get them. We just want what is best for the kids. We've had them in our home and know first hand what the mother is REALLY like. I'm typically the first advocate of a mother not having children removed from her care, but this one is a real tough case. I know the power of prayer and we ask that the judge have the wisdom to see what is really going on and see through the lies that have been told. We also ask that the BIL have the strength to endure what his soon-to-be ex-wife is dishing out to him. I am so proud of the stand that he has taken and pray that the right thing be done.

Thanks again!

Sondra

DAD: He arrived home from hospital on Friday afternoon and is doing quite well. A therapist from Home Health Agency comes into his home to help him with his knee/leg exercises. He has not been able to bend his right knee for nearly 60 years due to a bad accident with a circular saw when he was 27 yo, so when this next six weeks of healing is over he will see a BIG difference. He looks well and I have watched him walk with his walker and he is doing fine (much practice in the past with his hip replacement in 1989 and his other knee replacement in 1996). However, or course the therapy is painful but he chooses NOT to take pain medications as he has bad reactions from them which is worse. He is a strong-willed man and determined to get back to his garden as soon as possible. LUV THAT MAN/DAD OF MINE!

MARILYN: She had a BAD day on Sunday, kept feeling electric shocks within herself all day (must have been the defibrillator kicking in) and was frightened. She is bloating up again and feeling not as well as the week before when I first returned from OHIO 99. I will be driving her to Burlington tomorrow morning for an appointment with her Heart Specialist again. Keep on praying for her please.

ME: Saw my podiatrist yesterday. He gave me tests that showed my circulation and nerves in feet are all ok. Something he calls Neuropathy and he gave me a prescription to take (Neurontin) for six weeks then to go back for re-evaluation to see if there is relief for me. If not he will refer me to a Neuro something-or-other. I took the first capsule before bed last night...I slept 2.5 hours longer than usual, until 8:35 a.m.! Don't believe I even rolled over all night long, as only one little area of my hair was messed up this morning!! LOL I have an appointment with my GP on Wednesday for check up on my Thyroid which he discovered was underactive just before I went to OHIO. He put me on medications (Synthroid) for that and wanted me to come back in a month for follow-up. I have never seen so many doctors in years. What happens to a person when they turn 65!! I DON'T LIKE IT...feel like I am falling apart all of a sudden. Have only been to docctors for annual check-ups, mammos, eye-exams, etc. for years and years. Now all of a sudden I find I have need for more. Is there a Capsule I can take to stop this Aging Process???!!! HELP...I don't want to get old and feeble, but then again....

I continue to pray for all who have the need.

Subject: Song for Faith
E-mail Address: mickey@digitalf.com

Faith, these are the words to a song that comforted our family when DH's father passed. The woman who sang this at the funeral had just lost her brother to cancer. The words were written by James P. Jolley, in memory of his sister.

"We'll Be Together Again"

There are times in our lives when we question why And we feel so lost and alone.
But if you could see your loved ones on the other side
The tears of sadness would become tears of joy.
Fulfill your mission in life, they are watching over you;
Move forward with faith in your heart.
It all has a purpose and someday we'll see that we'll be together again.
For this is not the end but the start of a journey back home.
Life is eternal and death is rebirth; the doorway back to those who've gone before.
So put your trust in the Lord, He will comfort your soul and show you what you must do.
Then go forth in peace and know in your heart that we'll be together again.
Just as the flowers bloom in springtime after the winter's frost and snow,
Just as sure as the sun will rise.
for this is His promise if we'll just do our part;
Then we'll be together again.
Some will go early and some will go late, based upon the need God has.
But it won't be that long til we all that pass that way, then we'll be together again.

Best wishes; we're here for you.

Thanks to God...
on the 16th, my local school (where kate attends) posted its list of classes for the fall.....I was worried that she would get sent to this talented/gifted teacher...who also has no patience for special needs kids (like autism...my child can read above her years, but needs help in other areas). She instead got a teacher who grew up with a special needs sibling at home. This teacher by far is said to be the best in school for spec needs kids. I'll reserve opinions for actual experience. HOWEVER it reminds me that God is really in control anyway.
Thanks be to God.

I have just recently found this site. I have been following along for about a month. I finally got the courage to write. I recently lost a child. I was 23 weeks pregnant when I miscarried. This was my third miscarriage in eighteen months. I have two other children ages 6 and 5, so these miscarriages were not expected. I am going to attempt another pregnancy but am not ready yet. I am an avid cross-stitcher so I thought I would try quilting. I am just begining but am enjoying it. I needed something to occupy my hands and mind.

To Faith: Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.

To all others who need our prayers - some are so heartbreaking. Makes me know how grateful I
need to be for all I have. And know that my prayers are added to so many hundreds if not thousands of others.

Please pray for a special intention. I prayed earlier and the court date was August which has been
postponed until January. Should have been dismissed about three postponements ago, but I do consider
this a blessing and just pray that justice will be done and God will be in each heart that day.

Faith - I've been think of you all weekend. Like so many others, just want you to know that you are in our thought and prayers.

One of the traditions at our church is to light a candle at funerals or memorial services. The candle can be interpreted in so many ways. I envision the flame as that bright glow of love the person spread during their life, and which continues on in the hearts of all who knew and loved them. You will always have that very special piece of Bill with you.

Faith,

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow.

Remember the joy, the laugher, the smiles,
I've only gone to rest a little while.

Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt and given me relief.

So dry your eyes and remember me,
not as I am now, but as I used to be.

Because I will remember you all
and look on with a smile.

Understand in your hearts,
I've only gone to rest a little while.

As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.

Please pray for myself and my family. In May of 1998, I was diagnosed with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and Raynaud's Syndrome. Up until then I was an RN and am now unable to work. Needless to say, this has been a terrible blow to our family. The constant pain precludes me from functioning as a mother and wife and has caused me much mental anguish. We have 3 children (18, 15, and 11), with the oldest going to college. There is never enough money since I lost my income, and SS has yet to approve my claim. We are in great need of a financial miracle right now. I can only cry as I write this. I never could have imagined that I would be in this situation. And, especially telling my private needs to complete strangers.I am trusting God to use this forum to unite people in prayer for us so that we will see the glory of His work. I know the Lord has a plan for us all, and maybe this is His way of slowing me down. But, I would appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement. I hope to be able to start a quilt while confined to my home, if I can use my hands. Thank you sovery much for your prayers. Love to all.

DAD: His knee replacement surgery this morning took 1.5 hours longer than anticipated but all went well. D(not DEAR)SMIL,2DS (Norma & Marilyn) and I waiting in the waiting room for 7 hrs. 45 mins.(except for time we went out for lunch) until he was put in his own room and we could see him. He was still groggie but his color was real good and he joked with us and the nurses a little. He told us that he was aware of what was going on all the time. He couldn't hear anything though as he didn't have his hearing aid in. We girls didn't stay long, only to let him know that we were there and for him to sleep as much as he could before the pain starts. We will go back tomorrow and everyday while he is in the hospital. Thankyou all for your prayers. Hopefully he won't have any problems with the pain drugs giving him hallucinations this time. His surgeon told us he doesn't know HOW Dad could have even walked at all with the condition of that knee. When he was 27 yo he had a terrible battle with his pant leg getting caught in the belt of a circular saw while helping a neighbor get wood ready for the winter. When they finally got the saw engine stopped, Dad had been whipped around 7 times and the ligaments and tendons in his knee joints and ankle joints were twisted and stretched out and his feet were facing behind him. He was in hospital for 13 weeks and was told he would never walk again. He had a one-man farm, a wife and four small children, and his determination and hard work in therapy prooved the doctors wrong. He graduated from wheel chair to crutches and to canes and finally was able to walk without any aids at all. As a result of that accident, he has had a hip replacement, and now both knees replaced and of course is racked with arthritis. BUT you never hear him complain. Right now he is laying in the hospital worrying about what is going to happen to his lovely vegetable garden. Most has been harvested but tomatoes, corn and potatoes. Being a Farmer all his life, he continues to have a huge, weedless garden every year. Says he loves to watch things grow and to work in the soil. Sorry about this long post....can you tell that I am very PROUD of my Dad and love him so much!!

MARILYN: I am still amazed at the change in her. The nurses at the hospital today couldn't believe the change in the last two weeks either. Marily keeps telling people, "I'm normal again" with a big sweet grin spreading across her face and such a twinkle in her eyes. She just received a Handicap License Plate and Card to carry in her car on Saturday and now fears they will take it away from her. 8^) We are praising God and thanking you all for your many prayers all these weeks and months.

Our situation continues to worsen. We paid the bills with my husbands disability check, had our 10 year old's hair cut for school opening, and now it's the 8th of the month and we are absolutely broke! We have no money for groceries, gas, clothing, nothing! What are we to do? Does any one out there have an emergency plan for this? Please ask everyone you know to pray for us to pray for financial intercession so that we can make it through this month with food. We don't qualify for food sstamps because we own our house (which has been in the family since 1925). All I ask is that God's Will be done in this. Whatever you feel that God wants you to do, please follow His prompting. Thank you so much. I feel that God has lead me here to this wonderful group for a reason. Maybe you all feel that way. i posted a prayer request earlier this week and this new prayer request is for prayers of thanksgiving for all the nice people on this bulletin board!!! I have been overwhelmed with the response i've had from 10 people already. i wrote about my lyme disease (and daughter and her boyfriend) and i also asked for people to send me one piece of quilt scrap. i am so filled with joy at the wonderful kind people who have responded. i am working on responding to everyone with a little energy i got today. but here is the clencher. i asked for the wrong size quilt scrap. how could i be so... uhhh... not spatial??? this is living proof of what lyme disease does to brains hee hee...i can blame lots of stuff on being sick.

the quilt instructions said:
"Patch size: 6- 1/2" x 2- 1/2".
add seam allowance to templates."

so i deduced that 3"x8" would work. i realized when i got my first scraps today from Marge in LA, that i had requested the wrong dimensions. i measured the pattern with a ruler and found that the actual template with seam allowances is 5-1/4" x 7"!!! i could just kick myself, but that would hurt too much. i just get so confused sometimes that i can't think striaght.

i'm going to write everyone who has contacted me and i hope i get my mess straight.

now i know i am verging on chatting and not prayer requesting, so i will move to the chat bb's and look for some of my new friends. this site is soooo neat. thank God i found it.

Wanted to update you on Mark, who I was you all to pray for last week. He went to the doctor yesterday and our couples' Bible study group all met for dinner together last night so we could lend support, etc.

Well, it's a MAJOR PRAISE!!!! He has what is called a carcinoid tumor, which is relatively rare. It is an extremely slow-growing form, and they are still going to run some tests to find out where it is (I think they're going to check small intestine first). Apparently when you drink some dye stuff this thing will light up like the fourth of July. If they find it, they will remove it.If they don't, the doc said that would be okay since it's so slow growing even leaving it in would barely affect his life expectancy. Also, they do not treat this with chemo.

WOW, we were bowled over. We were praying for a "best case" scenario, but didn't even dream that one this good existed. We are now praying they find this tumor with the first test they run, remove it and that will be it!

Thanks for your prayers of support....Cassi in Ohio

A friend of mine has survived a hysterectomy and double mastectomy in the past. Now she has had two strokes in the past 10 months. Her oldest daughter (15) has an inoperable brain tumor and has already outlived the Dr.s prdiction by a year. If this family hadn't already had enough problems, last month the youngest daughter(10) was diagnosed with cancer of the liver. The Dr. said they needed to prepare for the worst. She's already lost from 81 lbs down to 58 lbs in this short time. I feel so helpless. I need to do something for her but the only thing I can do is try to get them on as many prayer lists as possible. That's the only way I know to help. Thak you

Subject: it's been a long time and it's gonna be even longer (probabl
E-mail Address: wilcomb@flash.net

i found this wonderful site looking for a way to implement a quilting inspiration to meet a need-- i need a way to quilt in bed on my back. it is impossible for me to sit up for even a few minutes without horrible pain. right now i can feel fever getting hotter throughout my body. i am getting nauseated from the high levels of pain. i take cancer strength pain meds, but they just don't touch the pain. some of it is nerve pain. i've been sick a long time and my doctor says it will be much longer. which i have grimfully confirmed through my own research.

the reason i am in this shape is because i was bitten by numerous ticks as a tree climbing, hole digging little girl, who also liked to sew on the treddle (sp?)sewing machine in the basement. one of those ticks was infected with lyme disease but no one really knew about lyme disease back then, so i went for decades undiagnosed, while the insidious disease dessiminated throught my whole body causing arthritis, central nervous system damage and invaded every system of my body. by the time this happens, lyme bacteria have cleverly hidden themselves away, and in my case, i grew more ill waiting for doctors to even discover the bacteria which was already sapping away my life. i always felt sorta bad growing up, at times i was very sick, i always had low grade fever, my knees started to get arthritis in them in 4th grade. it has been a slow spiral donward healthwise since then until the past 5 years which has been a scarey roller coaster speeding straight down. i won't burden you with more details. my letter is probably already too long for anyone to still be reading, hee hee.

on my 40th birthday i found my self in bed, wondering what undsicovered disease was killing me cause i was sure i was dying! the good news now is that there is hope for me to regain part of my health and function, and at least i'm going to live, probably. but i face many hours in bed, probably for many years and the treatment makes me sicker. so sick that i hardly want to live.

today,i am nearing my 44th birthday as i spend my first day in an empty nest. i sent my 20 year old daughter, who also has a serious case of lyme disease, off to college (two course class load only) she will live on my disability check until she can locate financial assistance. she was unable to get any financial assistance living at home because of my husband's income (not her real daddy)and he could not see a way to help her himself.

please pray for her. please pray for her wonderful boyfriend who recently contracted lyme disease on a spring break fishing trip. and please pray for me. why we got such a concentration of this insidious illness. i need prayers for patience, healing, and friends. i am so isolated and friends just drift away into busy lives. no one can sit still long enough to lie in bed by someone and read, or quilt, or embroider beside them. i have really tried hard to find a stitching partner and start a "two person guild," but so far that idea has not taken root and grown past the asking stage. i've gotten a lot of no answers...everyone is so busy today. that makes it hard to keep asking, cause the no answers really dash my spirits.

and now, if anyone is still reading:) i believe in praying about everything. please help me pray about an idea i had for quilting in bed. i want to make a friendship charm quilt which is one with only one shape but every piece is of a different fabric. how would i ever come up with 400 different fabrics when i only need a piece about 3"by8"? fabric stores make you buy at least an eighth yard. and fat quarters are usually $1. that could be a very expensive quilt and would be impossible for me. plus, i really can't get out to shop and find 400 different fabrics. in the 1800's people shared fabric scraps for such undertakings. i save scraps and i have around 75 different fabrics. does anyone know of where i might post a notice and request a small piece of fabric from other internet quilters. i think it would be so cool to have a quilt pieced from fabric from 400 people i met on the internet. and perhaps in exchange i could provide them with a copy of the pattern i am using, "apple core" or some other remembrance????. and my idea is getting more exciting cause what if everyone sent me a short story about themselves and i could put them in book form and display the quilt somewhere public as a tribute to the past and present spirit of quilters. cool huh? i just don't know where to start yet and my sitting up energy is so limited. as i write this (in several sittings, nauseated by pain, just a reminder about how bad this crud is and hopefully scarey enough to make everyone still reading take severe measures not to get tick bites) i am already cheered up thinking about it. it's comforting to think of cuddling up underneath the quilted love and prayers of strangers but i know my fever is still rising cause my cheeks feel like i've got a 2nd degree sunburn on them.

thank you for reading my letter and for praying for me. please e-mail ideas and hellos to me! and feel free to forward my info along to anyone who might jump on the healing quilt bandwagon with me.

love and warm quilted hugs,
jo cheryl

I haven't been posting about Sandy because there hasn't been anything different. Now her surgery on her thyroid gland is scheduled for Aug. 20. My DD#1 Donna (Sandy's mom) will be in VA on the 18th and then leave on the 24th. I'll be going over on the 19th and will come home on the 21st. Another granddaughter will be here on the 18th so Crystal will be going with me to VA. I'd like to ask all of you to please continue with your prayers for Sandy and add Donna to them. She has Lupus and stress always makes it worse. She will be flying and is very afraid. She usually uses Amtrak but that is too expensive now that she isn't working. Thanks for all the prayers since I first posted about this and for the continued prayers.

Prayers and hugs to all who need them and even if the need isn't posted.

See ya, Chris in C. KY

Thank you all for your prayers for Tiffany. I have not been on the computer myself for a week after Tiff's accident, I fell and reinjured my back that has been broken before, so I have been laid up in bed. I am much better thankfully.

Tiffany's swelling in her brain went down after about a week and a half. They started taking her off her paralytic (which made it so she could not move) and they took her off the medicine that kept her brain activity down. She started twitching and fluttering her eyes. They casted her whole right leg, both hips and down half of her left leg. They say she is back to an age of one or so it seems right now. But we are all just soo happy she survived. I believe it was around the 15th of July that they let her out of the ICU and they have moved her to a children's rehabilitation center by Baylor Hospital Dallas called Our Children's Home. Because of the problems hear I have not had alot of contact with them since they went to the rehab center.

Again thank you all for your prayers. Nothing has happened yet as to prosecution of the young man who hit her.

I just found this area, and I am so thankful that God has directed me here. I am asking for you all to hold myself and my husband of 20 years, and our 10 yr old son. i was diagnosed with lupus about 8 years ago, and up until the last 2 years I did great! two years ago, on a Saturday morning, I started having terrible pain and weakness in my right hip and leg. I (was) an RN, but as this problem progrssed, I had to quit work and file for disability (which is still pending). My husband was injured in a work related accident 10 years ago. He has gone through 2 back surgeries, and to this day continues to have devistating pain in his back and legs. He is on disability, and has been for about 9 years. As you can imagine, we are feeling the strain financially, with expensive medications and treatments. Please pray that if it the Lord's Will, my disability claim will come thriugh VERY soon. And pray for my precious son, who has been so strong through all of this. He says that he hates for us to be in pain, but is so glad we are all at home together! Isn't that the most precious thing that your child could say to you? Please remember us all in prayer, as I will you all. Thanks new friends! Carol from SC

Subject: Prayer for Mark
E-mail Address: Ohioccb@prodigy.net

Please include in Mark in your prayers, as well as his wife, Cheryl, and their kids. They are good friends of ours from church, as well as being in our couples Bible study. Mark went in Monday to have his gall bladder removed and they discovered cancer on his liver and small intestine. Doctors say that cancer is secondary, so they are searching for the primary source. So far the x-rays, CAT scan, etc., show the major organs are clear, which is a praise. They are still investigating the blood work and other possibilities, including colon and prostate, to find the primary source.

Obviously going in for a gall bladder removal and coming out with a diagnosis of cancer has blindsided them. I spoke with both of them last night and they are upbeat, spirits are good, though Cheryl admits to having been a basket case for the previous 48 hours. We're all praying for the "best case" scenario here. One child is starting college this fall and the other will be a H.S. senior. They go back to the doctor Tuesday...don't know if they'll find anything else out before then. Thanks!

Just needed to share what I can only view as a miracle in our lives last night....around 4:30 I woke up to a smell of smoke in our bedroom. I couldn't pinpoint it and checked other areas of the house, but didn't smell anything. My husband and I had just decided it must be coming from outside, drawn in by the window fan, when the power went out in our bedroom and we knew the problem was in our house.
A small box fan at the foot of the bed had overheated and shorted out, throwing the circuit breaker...we just switched to breakers from an antiquated and inadequate fuse box system last November, and I'm very grateful.

Also wanted to thank those who have been praying for my friend Sandy...she was married in a beautiful ceremony Sunday afternoon and never stopped beaming! Chris in PA

Thanks for all the prayers about my recent move.
It went very smoothly, the U-Haul did NOT break down, nothing got lost, no one got hurt.
My stuff is pretty well in place now and I am
just wrapping up a few loose ends before I start teaching in a couple weeks.

I'm a lot happier with the town, people are real friendly - more than I thought possible. And there IS a classical radio station I can pick up (a little thing but important to me). And I have a car now that works well.

I'm still a bit apprehensive about teaching - it'll be the first time I really taught a college class on my own, without a supervising professor to run to if things go wrong. But everyone has told me that being concerned is natural and a sign that I care enough about it to do a good job. I just hope I do. Succeeding in this job (i.e. teaching the students well) is very important to me - not only because I want to keep the job and have a good reputation, but because I want my students to come out of my classes knowing what they need to know.

E-mail Address: Tiwahe@webtv.net

Hi,
The request I am about to make may seem odd, but I appreciate the chance to post it and have the understanding of you great women!
My Mother has a rare disease called CREST Syndrome. I am not even sure what all the letters stand for, but it includes Internal Progerssive Scleroderma (sp?) and Pulmonary Fibrosis. She has 1 lung that is fully fibroid and the other has about a small pancake size of capacity. She is having trouble breathing and swallowing. She has stomach pain and general achiness all the time. She is on about 14 different meds, including mophine every 2 hours. Last summer she started to really crash and we thought that she would be dead by mid-August. Well it is now almost 14 months since the "crash" and she is still hanging on, but very miserable. I have been her primary care provider though most of this while trying to raise 6 kids and my husband lost his last job because of that. (He found a new one right away, so that is OK) We are now expecting #7 in about 3 months and I have no energy!! Surprise, Surprise!! She is now in an assisted living apartment and they are helping with her cares a bit. She was in hospice, but the "nurse" said that she wasn't living a bed to chair existance. Even though it takes her a half an hour to recover from going to the bathroom. Which is MAYBE 10 feet from her favorite chair that she spends most of her day in. So they pulled her off.....huge blow to us. (I, and Mom think that the nurse didn't like her and that it was basically an excuse to get rid of her!)
So what I am asking after this TOO LONG of a posting is that you would pray for the end to come for her soon and painlessly. I know that it may seem strange, but it is the best thing.
Thank you for listening.
I am sorry this is so long!!

I know there are so many people who need prayers, but I hope you all can sqeeze another prayer in.

My mother is in the hospital (1500 miles away) and it looks like she is getting to the end. In the last 21 months she has had two surgeries on a broken arm, diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, fractured her hip in April and has been taken by ambulance to the hospital twice in four days. She is now retaining fluid (edema) and has chest pains constantly (angine--the cardiograms are negative). They are also looking for TIAs (mini strokes.

The dr. now says she cannot ever go home again. My DH and I are planning on going to CT. in the next ten days or so. Right after I find out if I have optic nerve damage and if he has a herniated disc.

Are we having fun yet? Need to keep our faith and humor but it is hard sometimes. Anyway, I have rambled on long enough. Just found this site a couple of weeks ago and it is great. Will keep saying prayers for all of you.

Thank you so much.

The Abortion Rights Action League filled an injunction to Gov. Jeb Bush's bill for Parental Notification before a teenager can legally have an abortion. These people, my dear sisters in the Lord, are going to testify how abortion hurts women. Please pray for their safety, that they will be well spoken, and that the bill will stand up to this attack. My hand is getting better. I still have all my fingers, they are not all very useful at this time but we are hopeful. A major and very dangerous infection has became the problem now. I'm on a large antibiotic dose and every other day I need to go to the hospital to get an intravenous antibiotic dose. I could lose the 2nd finger of my left hand to the infection as it is on the bone. Nannette

My boss's wife was in an accident. They have done all the surgery required now, or at least they hope. She was moved to the Rehab. center on Monday to start to learn how to move with the cast on. Now we are not talking much movement. She broke her hip and they put 2 pins in that. She broke both legs so has casts from the knee down on both legs and crushed her heal on one leg and broke the foot on the other leg so both feet are in casts. The thearpy is just to keep her moving everything as much as possible. She will be in the Rehab center one more week and then go home. Her sister is going to be able to stay with her thru the day and her husband, my boss, will be there in the evening and night. The cast comes off in 3 months. But then I imagine the real therapy will begin. She loves the Lord and her spirits are very good but really needs us to continue to keep her in prayer. I told her about the BB Prayer page and how many people and places it reaches and she thought that was real COOL. Lois in NC

I spoke to Kristi about the prayers they are receiving and she is extremely grateful for everyone's efforts. I will post about his progress again soon. From speaking with several others who were struck by lightning, he still may have physical and emotional problems ahead of him but is doing very well so far. Nancy

Urgent prayers. The rescue organization that I got Bogie kitty from is in need of help. It's run by a circle of volunteers who rescue the cats and then keep them in their homes until they find an adoptive family for them. One of the founders of the group, Mary, had a cerebral hemorrhage and can no longer care for her cats. She was the backbone of this organization. They are having emergency adoptions and have plastered the neighborhood with signs. If they can't find homes for the cats (I believe there are almost 80 of them) the state is going to put them to sleep. I know that they can find homes for these cats,
Dave and I are considering adding another to our home (if Eponine promises not to kill it) and the people I babysit for, are considering it as well even though they recently adopted three. But I think Mary needs some help from God. She is elderly and perhaps it's her time to go to God, but I wish it could be without pain. After all she has done for these cats for the past 20+ years I think she deserves a little peace. Would you please pray for her and for the cats that they might find good homes? I am very worried about this. Jenny

Please keep Jojo quilter and her family in prayer. Tuesday is the court date.

Please remember to keep Sandra's (Sandy Toes)niece in prayer. She is 8 weeks pregnant with twins. She is on bedrest and feeling very ill. Pray for her and the babies.

Subject: moving to Oklahoma
E-mail Address: bobe@gte.net

Erica,
We will be praying for your and your family for a safe move and a not-too-difficult transition. I, too, moved once to Oklahoma, far away from everyone else I knew, but I least I brought DH and 4 DK with me (or, more accurately, we followed DH to his new job!). It was still a jolt to be far away from our families. But one thing I discovered: roads and planes go both directions, the phone (and now email) connects even there, and there are nice people everywhere. Ultimately we decided to move back to Oregon, but not until we'd had a taste of a completely different life and made a lot of memories -- and a brand new baby, now 21, who claims her Okie roots! Remember you are a gift to the people of Oklahoma and them to you, and enjoy your stay there, however long it may be. And send us messages -- we will be thinking about you in your new home. Do you have your new address yet? Quilty ((hugs)) to you from Portland,
Maureen/OR

I know this is kind of a minor thing in
comparison to others, but would you
please keep my family and me in your prayers?
Monday my parents are helping me move to
Oklahoma. My dad will be driving a 14-foot
rental truck and I know some of them are
prone to problems. I just want to get there
safe and sound, and without too much strain
on my parents (my dad has a heart arrythmia and
knee problems).

The move has been kind of stressful for me - it
is the first time I am going somewhere where
I don't know anybody or have no relatives.
And I'm going to be far from my family.
I've been praying for the strength to deal with
the loneliness I know will be coming.

Thanks for your prayers about my car situation. I have been advised by some car guys to get myself into a newer vehicle (and out of the car that needs a ring job which means a rebuild engine and two weeks without a car. I found one that I really like, three years old, still under factory warranty and minivan, but the price has to come down. somewhere in the Greater Baltimore area Harford or Cecil County there is the car that is meant to be mine. My sunday school teacher said that she prays before she gets a car, and God has led them to the right one every time. The one I am looking at getting may not be for me...I need discernment on this one. Pray for wisdom AND discernment.

Please keep Jojo and her family in prayer. On the 20th they will go to court about her mother's death. They are hoping that the woman responsible and the nursing home will be charged with her death. The defendant is calling some of them as witnesses. This is very distressing because they want to be in the courtroom to hear all the testimonies. The family needs to have closure and feel that those responsible will be punished. This will be a very difficult time for them, so please keep them in prayer. TIA
Faith and Bill, you are continually in my thoughts and prayers.
Janice I am so glad to hear from you. Praise God for all the blessings. We all need to continue to keep Janice in our prayers.
Maggie Meadow Mouse I am so glad to hear from you. We will continue to keep you and DH in our thoughts and prayers.
Chris, we will keep DGD in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how things progress.
Monica, I am praying for a quick and easy recovery. I am praying that the surgery will give you relief from the pain and make life so much nicer.
Let us all go back over the PP from time to time. We don't want to let up on any unanswered(as yet)prayers. Those with needs please keep us current on how things are. Don't forget, we love to read the praises.
I want to thank all who are praying for others. I really appreciate it. Your are doing the best you can for others. God will hear. He will bless you for it.

I have been home from Co. for a week, resting. Went to the drs in Spokane Tue & Wed, couldn't see the surgeon because he had an emergency, so rescheduled for the 28th. the radiologist was optomistic, wanting to do an mri to see if the tumor shrunk. the surgeon called wed night and said he is still baffled about my eyesight in right eye gone because i could see in hosp after surgery....he thought i should see an eye specialist. he told me to check with my reg eye dr. so much for the blah part of my life....

I praise God for the sight i have, for what health i have and getting to spend time with my children and grandchildren in Co. My oldest daughter wanted to be there, hoping we all will be able to get together soon.

Glenda in Korea: Thanks for the beautiful FQ. I have never seen such beautiful orental fabric before.

Kathi in NY: the card is real cute and your words of lovingkindness show thru.

To All The Others Who have said a prayer for me: Thank you so much. our days on this earth are numbered, and then we get the rewards we have worked for. Once we have recieved Jesus Christ in our hearts, a gift, then we want to do all we can so others will be in heaven with us....that's the way i see it. Love only grows, thank you all so much.

Prayers for all that need them....I have been away and have not kept up with all that is going on here on the PP. So many people in need. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I have a prayer request for my best friend Karen. She is the one I wanted to make the Armadillo wallhanging for (she is from Amarillo, Tx). She had been feeling dizzy and went to the doctor. They did an MRI and found an acoustic neuroma. This is a tumor on the nerve that goes to your ear. It is a type of brain tumor, but usually benign. It gets bigger, though and they either treat it with radiation or with micro surgery. Please pray that she gets to see the right doctors and they do the right thing for her.
She is the sweetest person I know. A school teacher for special needs kids and is always thinking of everyone else.

Also, I have a real praise. The woman that works for me, Karen (different from the first Karen! It was a bad day for Karens on Tuesday!!)She escaped death when a Semi drove into the side of her car (with her stepson beside her)on the way to the Airport. Witnesses said that she came soooooo close to going under the wheels of the truck that they couldn't believe she could just walk away from the accident. She is an energetic, bubbly person who always tries to do the right thing and I praise the Lord that He spared her and her stepson. The world would have been a sadder place without her sunshine.
A woman who witnessed the accident stayed with her until the police came. The truck driver tried to claim that she drove into him, but the woman said NO! She saw the whole thing and he just swerved into her lane and hit her car. Praise the Lord for people like that who were willing to stay and take precious time out of their life to help someone they didn't know. Karen was able to drive the car away...all damage is 3 ft off the ground.

She is going through Red Cross to help get Rei here sooner. Her blood count is down to normal and she has a only a little shakiness left. Feels much better but still terribly tired. She can't do her normal job of fitness trainer ('cuz her heart rate goes too high) so she stands out of the pool and directs water aerobics. She said to thank all of you that are praying for her.

Since it's 3:15AM I'm going to do a quick download of the quilt and chat pages and I'll catch up tomorrow (I hope!!!)

I posted a while back requesting prayers for my family. I would like to update everyone how things are going. My DH Tom had his echo stress test and the results were so impressive. He is completely without any heart problems, he apparently just had a false positive stress test in our local hospital, but at the larger hospital it was better than good. My oldest son Doug that I said had carpel tunnel - well apparently he does not. He went to a specialist yesterday and has a syndrome that is caused by repetitive actions (typing, etc.). The doctor told him absolutely no more typing and he should see major improvement in his pain in 6 months to a year. I am doing so much better since my car wreck. The only thing really bothering me is the whiplash, but was prepared for that to take a long time to improve. My youngest son Shane is holding his own. Needless to say, your prayers have helped my family immensely and I am so grateful for this page, and this wonderful group of people. I read as often as I can and always ask God to remember everyone on the prayer page. Thank you all so much.

Also wanted all of you to know that My Mom 's knee replacement went really well and she is home again AND trying to walk already. She says she is experiencing more pain with this knee then the first one , but figures it is because this one was in worse condition then the first, so they had to go deeper..
Just cannot keep that lady down. Guess we will
have to for go the visit this year as she will not be able to sit in the car for that long, to drive her up here. Oh well just have to pray that all stays well for next year.
Thank you all for the positive thoughts.

Subject: Update o Ben from 7/1/99
E-mail Address: imnrnbsn@juno.com

I posted on the first day of July about my littlest nephew and his diagnosis of liver cancer a year ago.
Presently there has been concern that a new tumor has shown up in the margin of the liver that was left.
A big concern was that the cancer was going to show up in the lungs.

I have good news to report that the CT-scan a couple of days ago shows the lungs CLEAR AND HEALTHY!

Where we go from here, is to have the surgeons see my nephew, Ben, to evaluate a possible biopsy with removal of the questionable margin of liver. On the MRI, they cannot determine whether what they are seeing is scar tissue left from the first surgery or new tumor.

Please keep in prayer Ben
s need for healing and the strength needed in the family during this time

Ben's mommy (my twin sister), says that you wouldn't know to look at Ben that there is anything wrong. Ben's a typical "terrible two", who is trying with all his little might to keep up with his 7 1/2 year old brother. :-)

We are finally back home after 3 months away in hospital and cancer clinics. My DH is doing fairly well and the latest MRI shows some shrinkage in the remaining part of the brain tumor. He has completed 36 radiation treatments and will contine chemo until next Feb. This is an experimental treatment and we hope and pray that it will work. He can't walk more than a few steps without falling down and still gets bad headaches but his spirits remain good and optomistic.

Your prayers and notes included in the card shower were wonderful and helped us through our difficult times. My husband cried when he heard how many of you were praying for his recovery. He could not believe the compassion from people who didn't know him. The power of prayer is truely wonderful and has given him hope for his recovery. We just returned from visiting my DMIL in MD. Gloria spends a lot of time resting in bed. While we were careful not to let the children wear her out, she did enjoy their visit and cheer so much.
A few years ago she had a mastectomy on the affected side. Last year some lumps were found cancerous. She continues to find lumps occasionally. Her entire left arm is swollen and painful from past chemo. In the past she has had various chemo, radiation and hyperthermia treatments.
Recently, protein shakes have given her a bit of energy and helped put on some weight. She went to the DR yesterday for the possiblity of another mild chemo treatment to start. I don't know the outcome of that visit yet.
Please pray for her spirits, to alleviate her pain, and for another chance for all of us to visit her again. She is expected to have about a year left. Thank you.

DH John called last night and said things were a little bit better Monday at Scout Camp and he thinks they'll be able to stick it out. I talked to DS Chad for a minute and he said the day was "okay."

They only got to swim once, which considering the weather was probably not enough, but the report is the heat may be going down a bit (like 90 instead of 94). John says he's too old for stuff like this....he would have paid $1000 for a ride home yesterday.

Chad slept in John's tent Sunday night, which John thought helped. Some of the leaders weren't too happy about it, but John said "tough." Actually, he said something much stronger than that, but after all, this is the prayer page, so I won't repeat it! LOL! John also checked out Chad's tent, which he's sharing with a friend who is, by all reports, a total slob. John made the friend straighten the tent up and hopes that will make Chad feel better about his living space.

So your prayers have helped....I'm not driving to kentucky today, and their last chance is to try to make me come get them tomorrow before I leave for Quilt America early Thursday morning. Praises to all who prayed for this situation....and continued prayer for better weather and lots of fun!

Thanks everyone! Cassi in Ohio

I have two prayer requests tonight. First, for my sister Jane. She is in her late 30s and has battled alcholism for probably 20 years. Recently she got involved with a pretty heavy duty outpatient treatment program, and has completely blown it. I guess I would like prayers for her, to truly admit her helplessness, and start getting well.

My other request is for a dear friend, Sue. We became friends 18 years ago when our kids were tiny. A move has separated us for the last 12 years, but in the last 2, we have stayed in touch with email. Sue had cancer 7 years ago, and then 2 years ago, developed it her liver. Nothing has helped, and now they are saying she has weeks left. Her pain is very bad, and I am asking for prayers for the pain to be bearable, and for her to be at peace, which I think she is.

God bless all of you tonight!

Please keep in your thoughts my friends Barb and Bob whose younger son was murdered on his 22nd birthday by "friends"---this was a tragic end for a child who struggled all his life with mental illness---and was deeply loved by his parents and brother.

This isn't as vital as most of the prayers posted here, but I'd appreciate prayers for my DS, Chad, and DH, John. They left for Scout Camp Saturday morning - Chad's first time to go. John called last night and reported Chad is miserable, wants to come home, doesn't feel good, etc. Chad is generally a pretty tough guy (he's 11) and he's been camping before with Scouts and also with our family. We suspect the heat (which has reached emergency levels around here) has something to do with his problems. Plus, Sunday was still a check-in day at camp and they didn't have a lot of stuff to do, so John said it was fairly boring. Today (Monday) they start the regular activities. Please pray that there's nothing wrong with Chad healthwise and that once he gets started being busy with the acitivities he'll feel better about being there.....otherwise you'll be praying for me making a 6 hour drive to go pick them up!

Thanks - Cassi in Ohio

Subject: 6 year old, Tiffany, hit by drunk driver
E-mail Address: dbw3@gte.net

My best friend's 6 year old daughter was hit by a drunk driver last week. All three of my young children and I saw. Her name is Tiffany Harris and she is still in critical in ICU at Children's Medical Hospital. Her brain has stopped swelling and even though she developed pnemonia she is doing slightly better. I hope you would all reach out your hearts and prayers to her and her family. Her mother and father will not leave the waiting room so we, her friends and family, have been providing money and home cooking for them. The school Tiffany attended had a garage sale this weekend to raise money and the father's work is going to have a fund raising bar-b-que to raise money for the family too. Tiffany's brother (10), my three children (2, 7, 9), and the neighbor's two children (2, 7) need your prayers too. We will start counseling next week or so to help them come to terms with such a gruesome sight.

I will try to keep you posted on her condition. It's been one week so far and she is hanging in there, she is so strong, but there still hasn't been much change.

Thank you

The doctors have ruled out myesthenia gravis and MS for my friend Sandy, but they still do not know what is causing the double vision and muscle weakness. She'll be undergoing a brain scan and more tests this week....wedding is still expected by first weekend in August...Please continue to keep her in your prayers....Chris in PA

I knew I was forgetting something when I posted the other day. My DGD Sandy is still having mega problems because of her thyroid gland. They will do surgery and remove all but the smallest amount but the surgeon wants to wait until her #'s get at least to the top of normal before they do the deed. She also got the flu last week and spent almost the whole week in bed. Thank God she has wonderful neighbors who come over and cook for her and do her yard work and whatever else is needed. She had been sleeping and heard noises outside, got up to see what was going on and her next door neighbor said "What are you doing up? Go back to bed." He was doing yard work. I would love to go over for a week or so but "things" keep me from it. Please all of you keep her in your prayers for a while longer.
Thanks.

See ya, Chris in C. KY

Subject: My littlest nephew, Benjamin
E-mail Address: imnrnbsn@juno.com

Several weeks ago, I had asked for prayer for my littlest nephew, Benjamin and our family.
A year ago, Benjamin, at 21 months of age, was diagnosed with liver cancer.
Ben went through four rounds of chemo and then surgery followed by another two rounds of chemo.
We've been "cancer-free" for a year.
But in the past two weeks, Ben's AFP count has quadrupled. He went for a chest X-ray and an MRI yesterday, 6/30/99. We don't have the results back yet, but if there is cancer again, they say that there is not chemotherapy that would take care of it.
If it can be isolated, then it could be surgically removed.

We need your prayers. Please pray and pass this message on to others you know who would keep this little one and our family in prayer.

Blessings to you,
Joan Troyer
