Sixteenth-century cartographers made beautiful sailing charts with colorful compass roses to indicate the principal winds and lodestone (often a fleur-de-lis) to find the direction north on the magnetic compass. They let their imaginations run free on these designs, and so can you when creating a Mariner's Compass quilt. Judy shares information on design and drafting in easy steps.
