Well, weep no more get ready to learn how to achieve a standard of applique excellence."
Creative Quilting

"Simms offers an improvement on the traditional applique stitch. It's quick and easy to master, and it produces excellent results. Best of all, the stitch has other applications; it can even be used for hand piecing, allowing for better point and corner matching."

"At this point, the mess you're holding in your hands makes you wonder why you ever bought this book. Understandable. With each "stitch" you are adding another parallel line of thread, another "toehooker." And so far it doesn't look a thing like applique. Wait. Trust me.

When you have taken enough stitches to count six parallel threads, stop. The thread should be coming out of the piece to be appliqued. More on that in a moment. Now comes the fun.

With the tip of your needle, or your fingers, gently roll under the seam allowance and pull the thread taut. Not only will the applique lay perfectly flat, but the thread will disappear!"
